ALDERSHOT Town and the Aldershot Town Community Trust, a registered charity that has operated from the club for 12 years, have severed links.
This follows a request from the club that the Trust should pay £10,000 annually for use of the ATFC badge and access to first-team players. A counter three-year payment proposal by the Trust was rejected by the Aldershot Town FC board.
The club says it can achieve more by forming a new foundation, rather than remain with the current charity which is independent.
Club chairman Shahid Azeem said: “There’s no personal agenda or grievance against the Community Trust staff. We feel we can achieve more both financially and socially by bringing the community and schoolwork under the direct coordination of the club in the form of a new foundation.
“This is purely based on what we as a club wanted to do and achieve.”
