FARNHAM TOWN 1, HANWORTH VILLA 2

FARNHAM Town’s alarming slump in the Combined Counties Premier League extended to a seventh defeat in eight matches.

Since their fine FA Vase run was ended by Bridgwater in a cracking tie in November, Farnham’s injury-ravaged side have lost form and confidence.

Seven league matches have netted just one point from a 0-0 draw and they suffered an embarrassing 5-0 loss to Division One side Cobham in the Challenge Cup.

There have been signs of a recovery in the last fortnight. Luck was against Farnham when they lost 4-3 to high-riding Walton & Hersham and they again went down by the odd goal at home to top-five side Hanworth Villa on Saturday.

The Memorial Ground has traditionally brought little joy for Hanworth, but a timely first goal for his club by Traore Souleymane stole the points for the visitors after a James Flynn strike had promised to retrieve a draw for Paul Tanner’s men.

Farnham have dipped to 18th in the table, just two points above the bottom three, and they badly need to beat AFC Hayes – one point ahead of them – at the Memorial Ground this Saturday.
