FARNHAM TN 3, WINDSOR 4
AFTER four successive league wins, Farnham blotted their copybook with a home defeat to Windsor last Saturday.
Trailing 4-1 at one stage, Farnham hit back with two late goals, but Windsor were not to be denied victory at the Memorial Ground.
Windsor, strengthened by several new signings, got off to a dream start, scoring a goal timed at 39 seconds as Barry Dunbar, finding himself with only Matt Petts to beat after an error by Sean Evans, lobbed the Town keeper.
Farnham came back strongly. Ross Cheek sent a shot skimming over the bar and Tom Smith was denied by the in-form Carl Dennison.
Both sides made and missed some decent chances. Windsor should have gone two up when a long ball from Matt Lazarczus sent Travis Richardson-Hodge through and the winger shot just wide of the post.
At the other end, Elliott Cardona thought he had done enough to score as he rolled the ball past Dennison, only for Lazarczus to get back and clear off the line.
Farnham looked to be on their way back when they won a free-kick on the edge of the area and the fit-again Steve Ramsden beat Dennison with a sweetly-struck shot.
But Windsor regained the lead with the final kick of the half – a real sucker-punch for Town. Charlie Samuels took a corner and Dunbar bundled the ball over the line for his second goal.
Windsor appeared to have the points in the bags after Samuels added a brace of goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half.
Picking the ball up just inside the Farnham half, Samuels advanced to the edge of the area before firing low past Petts.
On 65 minutes, Dunbar hassled a defender into losing possession and Samuels beat Petts with a skilful 20-yard chip for the fourth goal.
Farnham belatedly found their scoring touch in the last ten minutes.
Elliott Cardona headed in from a Tom Smith cross to give Town hope and when keeper Dennison sent Cardona tumbling, Matt Graham scored from the spot to reduce the deficit to one.
But Windsor held out in added time, leaving Farnham to digest a painful defeat ahead of this Saturday’s visit to Eastbourne Town in the first round proper of the FA Vase.
Eastbourne are currently third in the Southern Combination Premier Division, just three points off the lead with two games in hand.
