LISS ATHLETIC 1, LIPHOOK UTD 2

STEVE Harding scored his 23rd goal of the season to win Saturday’s local derby and send Liphook to third place in the Hampshire Premier League Senior Division.

A Stuart Green goal gave Liphook the lead after 15 minutes and the visitors led 1-0 until deep into the second half when Calum Benfield equalised for Liss.

It looked like ending all-square, but Liphook kept coming and as the clock ticked onto 90 minutes, Harding popped up to grab the winner. He now heads the division’s scoring charts, two goals ahead of QK Southampton’s Nathan Gray who has 21.

Clanfield lost 1-0 to high-riding Hayling United. Kieran Carter scored for the visitors.

In Division One, Headley beat AFC Petersfield 3-1 in the bottom-of-the-table clash. Mike McCready equalised for AFC after Jake Grover had scored the only goal of the first half. Max Heath quickly restored Headley’s lead and Heath scored again to clinch the points.
