ALDERSHOT Town’s five-game unbeaten run was brought to a shuddering halt in Kent on Saturday.
The Shots were beaten 2-0 at the Crabble by Dover Athletic as the home side gained revenge for a 4-0 drubbing at the EBB Stadium in October.
A Kevin Lokko header on 15 minutes and a second from Shadrach Ogie condemned the Shots to only their second defeat in ten National League games before Kodi Lyons-Walker was sent off for a second bookable offence on 69 minutes.
Danny Searle’s men drop to 17th ahead of a rearranged trip to Eastleigh on Tuesday. The game was due to be played on New Year’s Day but fell victim to the weather.
Badshot Lea continued their recent resurgence as they took their unbeaten run in the Premier Division of the Combined Counties League to five games with a 1-1 draw with Sutton Common Rovers at Westfield Lane.
In-form Baggies goalkeeper Kallum Lunn, the first-half hero in Lea’s 2-0 win at Hanworth Villa in midweek, was in inspired form again as he saved a second-half penalty before Danilo Cadete gave Lea the lead on 62 minutes with his second goal in two games.
The Commoners equalised four minutes later to leave Lea 12th in the table ahead of a visit from third-placed Spelthorne Sports on Tuesday night.
Farnham Town continued their push for promotion from Division One of the Combined Counties League with a 2-1 win at the Bill Kyte Stadium against Godalming Town.
A fourth goal in as many games from striker Charlie Oakley and a penalty from Matt Glass after central defender Connor Gales handled the ball put dominant Farnham in the ascendancy before debutant Daniel Chapman scored late on for the hosts to set up a tense finale.
But impressive Farnham were good value for their win, their ninth in 12 games away from home, and made it four wins out of four in January to cement second place behind Jersey Bulls in the quest for a top-four finish.
In the Sydenhams Wessex League, two goals from Ollie Dennett and a third from Conall Bark saw Premier Division leaders Alresford maintain their six-point lead at the top of the table.
Dennett has made a huge impact since joining the Magpies in recent weeks and he took his tally to seven goals in four games as Alresford won 3-0 away at Shaftesbury in misty Dorset.
On Tuesday night, Alresford travel to Krooner Park to face Camberley Town of the Combined Counties League in the second round of the Aldershot Senior Cup.
In Division One, promotion hopefuls Alton Town were held to a goalless draw by New Milton Town, a result that leaves the Brewers just outside the promotion places in fifth but only three points behind leaders US Portsmouth.
On Tuesday, Alton face the British Army under-23s in the second round of the Aldershot Senior Cup at The Enclosure.
