ALRESFORD Town will face AFC Stoneham in the final of the Southampton Senior Cup.

Stoneham edged a seven-goal thriller on Tuesday night at neutral venue Hamble Club to set up a date with the Magpies at St Mary’s Stadium, home of Premier League Southampton.

On Saturday, the Magpies missed the chance to fly back into the top five of the Premier Division of the Wessex League when they were beaten 3-2 by high-flying Bournemouth at Arlebury Park.

Dominic Falco opened the scoring for the visitors with a tap in on three minutes before Luke Dempsey took advantage of a goalmouth scramble to equalise on 19 minutes, only to see Falco and Tom Wensley put Bournemouth 3-1 ahead. Aaron Blaxall’s late header proved only to be a consolation goal.

On Saturday, Alresford play Portland United (kick-off 3pm) before hosting Hamble Club next Tuesday (kick-off 7.45pm).
