Following the success of their cup final win last season, the Huskies are now playing in the second tier of the under-ten North East Hampshire Youth League.

And they had to stand firm following a late Alton onslaught to triumph 3-2 in their first league game of the season.

The Huskies dominated early on and deservedly went ahead with a well-taken goal by Thomas Smith, latching on to a throw-in and finishing smartly.

The Huskies edged further ahead with two fantastic breakaway goals by Arthur Wholey, the first coming after a superb move down the right started by tenacious Harry Suntokeesing.

Arthur’s second goal came after a great move this time down the left, started by Jed Keel’s perfectly-weighted pass.

After the break Alton scored two quick goals to ensure a nervous finish but the Huskies just held on.

Henry Gunner won the player-of-the-week award for a resolute defensive display.
