JUST days into his new tenure, new Aldershot Town boss Danny Searle’s backroom team is already starting to take shape.

Searle, who himself was only unveiled as the new Shots boss ten days ago following the departure of Gary Waddock, has wasted no time getting his managerial pieces in place.

Former Dagenham & Redbridge skipper Anwar Uddin was named as Searle’s assistant seven days ago and David Blackmore has this week joined the ranks at the EBB Stadium as goalkeeping coaching having left a similar role at Braintree Town.

And all three are hard at work as they bid to rejuvenate the fortunes of a club which finished in the bottom four of the National League last season but who now seem likely to avoid dropping into National League South because of the desperate sitiation at Gateshead.

Gateshead, currently the subject of a fan takeover, have had their National League licence suspended and are almost certain to drop at least two divisions – either in their current guise or as a new club.

Either scenario would see the Shots, who finished highest of the four relegated clubs in 21st place, get a reprieve and start life under Searle and Uddin in the National League.

But both men have declared themselves ready for the challenge no matter which division the Shots find themselves in.

Assistant boss Uddin, who worked under Searle at the West Ham United Academy, said: “We are prepared and ready. It’s been a bizarre situation not knowing whether we are going to be in the National League or National League South, but we just want to know that players want to play for Aldershot Town no matter which division we are in. I want those players to buy into what Danny and me want and what we are doing.

“I’m really excited about joining the club. It’s a fresh start and already it’s been a very busy few days preparing, building, planning – all the things that go on behind the scenes.

“I always loved coming here as an away player and it was great meeting the fans this week, they are really optimistic.

“There are naturally a few issues but the fans understand who we are and we all want the same thing.

“We will do everything we can to bring success to this club.”
