A SMALL but select field took part in Liphook Golf Club’s Junior Open. 

In the morning, 30 boys and two girls from many local clubs and some distant ­– Ed Reed travelled from Royal Birkdale – played in the Daily Telegraph Trophy.  Liphook’s own Sam West shot a gross 73 to win on count-back from Tom Lawton of East Berkshire GC. 

The handicap prize went to Harvey Denham (South Winchester GC) with a net score of 68. 

The girls’ competition was won by Amelia Williams (Royal Winchester GC) with a gross 81.

In the afternoon, the juniors played for the Lushington Cup and the winner was Adam Holmes (Farnham GC) with an excellent 42 points.  In second place was Jamie Mullins (North Hants GC) with 37 points, edging out Arvind Singh Brar  (Meon Valley GC) on count-back.
