AN early start for a long trip to Kent paid off for Farnham’s young roller hockey whizzkids.

The under-13s won all three games in fine style as they competed in a regional tournament in Herne Bay.

Their first opponents were Invicta. Strong formations and teamwork and positive forward play resulted in all the players scoring goals en route to a 15-0 walloping.

Maidstone, in their second game, proved to be tougher opposition and the two teams were largely evenly matched, but after some near misses, Farnham’s patience and persistence paid off with Lelani Petzer scoring twice before Flora Fergie-Woods added a third as Farnham eased away to win 6-2.

The final game was against hosts Herne Bay and Farnham were immediately among the goals as Petzer set up Paula Sass, who added a second with a high flick. Long flicks from Petzer set up goals three and four while Lexie Gosnell added a fifth to put Farnham in complete control.

Second-half goals from Petzer, Sass, Jack Webber and Fergie-Woods sealed a thumping 10-1 win.

Farnham coach Rob Carver said: “I’m so proud of the team and glad that they were enjoying their games. They really deserved their wins after all the hard work they have done in training.”
