TWO Division One sides experienced contrasting fortunes in the Aldershot Table Tennis League’s Handicap Cup when they met opponents from the bottom division.
Central A easily beat Cody F, while Ash B suffered a whitewash at the hands of Braybrooke B.
Phil Snelson, apart from one doubles match, won all his sets for Central, with strong support from Peter Millard and Paul Baker. Braybrooke’s triumphant trio were Kenny Duarte, Malcolm Codd and Sandra Jackson.
Tennis G eased into the quarter-finals, defeating Frimley E by five matches. Peter Killick was unbeaten for Tennis, ably assisted by Charles Burton and Dave Lewis. Steve Bridle and Dennis Smith enjoyed some success for Frimley.
Ash B played two of their postponed matches in Division One and were beaten 9-1 by Bentley A and then whitewashed by Central A.
Andy Mudie and Micky Lang were unbeaten for Bentley, while Steve French won twice. The Central team comprised Peter Millard, Phil Snelson and Paul Baker.
In Division Two, Steve Cheek was undefeated for Old Woking who beat two-man Ash C 8-2. Frank Winnard won a defiant double for Ash.
One delayed match was played in Division Four, with Braybrooke B easily overcoming Ash F 9-1. Mick Rumbold and Tony McDowell were both unbeaten and Kenny Duarte claimed two wins.
Tennis F reached the semi-finals of the Div III Cup by beating Cody C 7-2. Peter Killick won all his three for Tennis. Graham McCulley and Paul Jarvis won two each in support, both losing to Cody’s Jock Docherty.
