FRENSHAM Sailing Club had a new line-up of flag officers after their AGM.
Flag officers are the official leaders of the club and are responsible for day-to-day administration.
This year, the club elected two distinguished sailors and a world champion to these posts, while thanking Colin Dutton, the retiring commodore.
Colin Dutton brought much experience to the post. While spending much of his working life in the far east, he represented Hong Kong in a number of sailing events, including major inter-port regattas in Japan, Canada and New Zealand.
He raced both dinghies and small cruisers.
After retiring, he joined Frensham Sailing Club in 2003 and served as secretary, with two years as vice-commodore and two years as commodore.
His successor, Jeremy Hudson, has the distinction of being a master mariner with experience of commanding 320,000-ton merchant ships. Today, he is a chartered ship broker and his profession has taken him to Texas, California, British Columbia, Mexico and Argentina.
He started small-boat sailing aged eight on the River Severn in many classes of racing dinghy and, later, full-size racing yachts. He now sails at Frensham in GP14 dinghies and Phantom Class.
Frensham Sailing Club elected their youngest flag officer for many years in Megan Pascoe, the new rear-commodore.
Megan is a world champion and has won major events in her chosen class, the 2.4-metre keelboat. She is an old friend of Frensham and has won the 2.4 class open meeting more times than anyone can remember.
