HASLEMERE ladies’ rugby team The BlueBelles have secured a two-year sponsorship deal with the Lythe Hill Hotel.

As a fully-integrated part of Haslemere Community Rugby Club, Haslemere BlueBelles officially launched on January 9.

The head coach is former international player and head of Haslemere Ladies Rugby, Joanna Oomen.

The club now offer many opportunities for girls – the girls’ section will offer rugby for under-12s, under-14s and under-16s as well as the senior team.

A Lythe Hill Hotel spokesman said: “Rugby for women and girls is one of the fastest-growing team sports in the world. There are so many opportunities in rugby today which weren’t afforded to women in the past and Lythe Hill Hotel are very proud to be a part of this.

“We hope our sponsorship will provide resources to encourage even more women and girls to take part in rugby.”

A club spokesman said: “We are committed to developing the girls’ and ladies’ game at all levels, with a focus on teamwork, fitness, having fun and building friendships in a supportive and safe environment.

“As part of the community programme, we are committed to supporting local schools. Many of their players from across Surrey, Hampshire and West Sussex combine both club and school rugby during the season.

“There will be some pre-season training over the summer and then official training will start in September.”
