TENNIS F suffered their first defeat of the season in the Aldershot Table Tennis League Division?Three, losing 6-4 to Cody D.

Dean Hewitt was the star of the night with a maximum for Cody and team-mate Fan Lei supported with a double. Peter Killick won two for the beaten leaders.

Cody E did themselves a power of good in what could be a tight relegation battle with an emphatic 9-1 win against Ash D. An injured Les Knight was unable to complete his sets for Ash and Cody’s Nigel Roberts and Alan Richards were both undefeated.

Tennis G were also pleased with their 6-4 victory over Cody C. David Thomas won all three for Cody, while Charles Burton and Tushar Vaja bagged important braces for Tennis.

Ash E were emphatic 8-2 winners against Crawley Ridge A, with Amy Parkes and Jo Bartlett recording maximums. Frimley D and Cody D shared the points, with no player unbeaten. There were doubles for Frimley’s Anthony Connelly and Gary Nicholson and Cody’s Dean Hewitt and David Thomas.

In Division Two, Braybrooke A avoided defeat for the first time by drawing with Ash C. Mark Armstrong and Tony Gabriel won two apiece for Braybrooke, as did the Ash pair, Nigel Tustin and Frank Winnard.

Old Woking and Frimley C also shared the spoils. Steve Cheek was unbeaten for Old Woking and Bill Matlock won twice, as did Frimley’s Peter Farrelly. Old Woking also had an emphatic 8-2 win over Tennis E. Cheek and Frank Roberts both recorded trebles.

Fleet A whitewashed Frimley B to strengthen their grip at the top of the table. Lawrence Dack, Fallon Thompson and David Joyce achieved a clean sweep for the champions-elect.

Cody A edged past their B team 6-4. Doubles for Phil Russell and Peter Anthony (A team) and Paul Massey (Bs).

Crawley Ridge B cemented top spot in Division Four by whitewashing Ash F. Richard Hornby, David Marchant and newcomer David Skellern plundered the points.

Tennis H maintained their challenge with an 8-2 victory over Braybrooke B. Martin Evans was unbeaten, backed up by doubles from Ken Lewington and Keith Johnson.

Frimley E could yet feature in the promotion race after a 9-1 mauling of two-man Ash H. Dennis Smith, Steve Bridle and Paul Phelan were all unbeaten, while Ash managed to win the doubles.

Bob Murrell won all three and Ray Mears and Chris Payne took two each as Ash G beat Cody F 8-2. Fleet C trounced Ash J 9-1, with Alan Yeung and Andrew Hook returning full houses and Roy Chitteneden winning two.

Division One basement side Ash A met a two-man Frimley A and squeezed home 6-4. Nigel Oh was undefeated for Frimley.

Central A drew level on points at the top of the table with a 9-1 victory over Tennis C. Phil Snelson and Paul Baker were both unbeaten and Peter Millard picked up two wins.
