A book-signing roadshow came to The Fernhurst Hub on June 10 with great success.
Claire Nicholas has been taking her new children’s book, Sunwood Discovered, on a roadshow.
She said: “The idea of a roadshow came to me when I was worrying about organising one central book launch in Midhurst. The obvious answer was that I take the books to the villages.”
She was joined by Emily Simmonds, the young chapter illustrator.
Set on Blackdown, Sunwood is a secret area where animals and birds from all around the world can live in complete harmony, with no fighting for food or leadership.
A family from Haslemere find Sunwood when on a walk, and are invited to stay so the children can play with the animals and learn more about them - this is when the adventures begin.
Ms Nicholas said: "Fernhurst has a strong community, and I really enjoyed my sessions when volunteering at the Hub.
"That is actually how I met Emily as she volunteers there too, so it wasn’t long before we were talking about our interests."
Ms Nicholas added: “The Hub is run by a very supportive group of people. It was a lovely, lovely day.”
Sunwood Discovered is the first in a series of five chapter books, aimed at children aged seven and above. The sequel, Sunwood in Danger, will be out this summer.
