Whitehill town mayor Cllr Leeroy Scott led a flag raising ceremony to mark the start of Armed Forces Week at the Forest Community Centre on Monday.

Town crier Stuart Morrison introduced Cllr Scott, who gave a speech paying tribute to the role the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers played in the town for more than a century.

Cllr Scott invited Barry Farrington of the Royal British Legion to raise the Armed Forces Day flag, which was followed by a minute’s silence. The town crier led three cheers for the armed forces and Cllr Scott thanked everyone for supporting them.
