HAMPSHIRE councillor Adam Carew has criticised East Hampshire District Council planners over their controversial decision to turn down Asda's application to build a store in Bordon.
The proposal had been to build a 1,903 square metre store at Viking Park and, although the scheme was supported by Whitehill Town Council, district councillors voted 10 to one in favour of refusal at the authority's planning meeting on August 16.
Mr Carew said that the opening of Alton's Waitrose store had been "salt in the wound" for Bordon residents, as it was reported shortly after the town lost out on the Asda store.
