WHITEHILL Town Council has given its feedback on proposed future alterations to the A325, including one call for "gateway features" at either end of the town.

Senior engineer Graham Wright, from Hampshire County Council, gave a presentation to the authority's town development committee last Tuesday when he outlined the early-stage proposals for the redevelopment of the road through Whitehill and Bordon.

Although the scheme is in a draft stage, the aim is to create a shared space (minimal demarcations between vehicle traffic and pedestrians) and to develop a cohesive town centre with a "distinct sense of place".
