POLICE and firefighters are investigating a car fire.

A crew from Bordon (Retained) fire station were called to the blaze at New Inn Fields, Sleaford, just before 5.30pm on January 2.

Discovering a Volvo V40 alight, they requested police attend as the cause of the blaze was not known. A fire engine from Bordon attended, as well as armed police officers.

But a Hampshire police spokesman said the armed unit was present because they were the nearest police officers to respond.
