CHILDREN always look up to their parents and want to get involved with what they are doing.

So when Jamie Dew, head of design and technology at Highfield and Brookham Schools, said he was going to spend his Easter holidays making PPE visors, his children couldn’t wait to help.

Ava, aged five, and Daxx, aged two, who are both pupils at Highfield and Brookham Schools, enjoyed spending time in the DT suite helping their daddy make something that was going to help the amazing doctors and nurses.

The family aim to make 100 visors in the school’s DT suite, and delivered their first batch to grateful staff at the Royal Surrey County Hospital last week.

As well as making PPE, Andy Baker, head of science at Highfield and Brookham Schools, has also donated unused safety glasses and gloves to Liphook and Liss Surgery.

Sophie Baber, headteacher at Brookham School, said: “It makes me tremendously proud to see our staff and pupils giving their time selflessly to help those on the front line of Covid-19.

“We will all be forever indebted to the amazing work the NHS are doing and it is extremely honourable that the Highfield and Brookham community are doing their bit. I hope it inspires many to do the same.”
