A PARTY for children at Whitehill Village Hall came about as a result of a resident talking about the community events she used to enjoy.

Pensioner Diane Noon, a long-time resident of Sutton Fields, is a regular customer at the Friday tea, coffee and cake drop-in session, held at the hall and organised by members of St Matthew's Church, in Blackmoor.

In September, Mrs Noon was talking to friends about how they used to get together to hold a party for the children of what was then a new estate, but now the tradition had died out. Six of Mrs Noon's friends, who call in at the centre each Friday, decided to revive the custom and hold a party for the neighbourhood's children.
