Country fans will get a lesson in bluegrass next week as a four-piece from Virginia will show their class at The Petersfield School.

Expect a night of smoking hot bluegrass when Furnace Mountain perform in the TPS Studio next Friday, April 12.

The innovative and talented group are named after the Appalachian mountain community where they grew up with their music reflecting the sound of the region.

The band consist of Aimee Curl on bass and vocals, Dave Van Deventer on fiddle and vocals, Morgan Morrison on guitar, bouzouki and vocals, and Danny Knicely on mandolin and fiddle.

They’re as hot musically as their name suggests, with a sound that can switch from powerful to poignant in a matter of chords. Revellers can expect lively and raucous music with spirited fiddle melodies weaving around the bass and bouzouki, and poetic pieces with sublime vocal harmonies.

Their fans include ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris with the legendary BBC Radio 2 presenter calling them “a truly exceptional group” who “deserve to be in the upper tier of American roots groups”.

Door open at 7pm while tickets are priced £15 (£14 for concessions) from www.thestudiotps.com
