MORE than five weeks ahead of the 33rd Alton Ten Road Race, entries are already flooding in.

Organised by Alton Runners and Alton Lions and held on May 8, race registration takes place at Eggar’s School, with the race starting at 10.30am from outside the entrance to Treloar College on London Road in Holybourne.

Open to runners aged 17 and over, the 10-mile route will head out of the village and up hill to Binsted, carrying on to The Jolly Farmer pub before turning left onto the Blacknest Road, past Bentley railway station, and back via Isington and Binsted to finish at Eggar’s School.

The course is undulating and unsuitable for wheelchair athletes.

Medals will be awarded to all finishers and trophies will be presented to the first man and woman home in three age groups.

Entry costs £16 or £14 for UKA-attached runners. There is a £2 surcharge for entries on the day. For more details, visit altonrunners.co.uk.
