Eight houses are now occupied at Quebec Park, and staff from developer Radian welcomed the new cohort of home owners to the estate, which will have 100 new homes eventually.
Radian, based in Eastleigh, confirmed that out of the 35 properties the sales team had reserved for people, only two had been sold to investors.
This indicates that most of the new homes are likely to be occupied by owners rather than landlords buying up homes to rent.
Sally Smikle, one of the first residents to call Quebec Park her home, said: “Our overall experience with Radian has been positive and fairly plain sailing. Both sales executives have been very friendly, helpful and easy to contact. We also never had to wait long for answers to our questions.
“The standard fittings are of good quality and functionality.”
The development is located on the former site of Quebec Barracks and, once complete, will consist of 100 two, three, and four-bedroom homes, including coach houses, terraces, townhouses and detached properties.
The first and second phases sold out “at lightning speed”, said Radian, with just the two-bedroom shared-ownership coach house available for purchase at £242,000.
Still somewhat challenging for average earners and first-time buyers, the third phase offers a selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes, with prices for a three-bedroom property starting at £320,000. The two-bedroom properties will be released shortly.
Each home comes with designated parking or a private driveway as well as, according to Radian, “spacious living areas”.
Help to Buy is available on all homes.
Announced in the March 2013 Budget, the Government scheme is available to first-time buyers and existing home owners and makes getting on the property ladder feasible for more people.
The scheme allows buyers to purchase a new home with just a five-per-cent deposit. The Government provides an interest-free equity loan of up to 20 per cent of the value of the new property. The purchaser then requires a mortgage of 75 per cent. The maximum purchase price of a new home when using Help to Buy is £600,000.
Zoe Bonnington, assistant director of new business, sales and marketing at Radian, said: “We’re delighted to welcome our first residents to Quebec Park.
“The feedback we’ve received from new buyers - in terms of customer service, quality of our homes and their love of the area - has been truly heart warming.
“Our homes have appealed to a range of buyers, from single occupiers to couples and young families moving up the property ladder.
Many have expressed their excitement in the significant regeneration taking place in the area with many looking forward to trying the new restaurants, shops and leisure facilities.
“The planned changes to the town and infrastructure have been a big draw for our buyers, and savvy customers have recognised the clever investment they’ve made as the regeneration is expected to boost the market.”
She praised the local transport infrastructure - a trait rarely attributed to Whitehill and Bordon.
“The excellent transport links and distance to cities such as Guildford and London have been a real hit with young professionals,” she said. “Bordon is becoming a destination for many as it combines excellent transport links, the beauty of the South Downs and the excitement of new facilities heading to the town.”
The homes at Quebec Park have modern energy saving features built into their fabric, including solar panels.
Quebec Park, the first major development in the town’s ongoing regeneration, is said to be a “blueprint” - setting the tone for future building in Whitehill and Bordon.
