THE district council outlined its proposed budget for 2010/11 during a consultation meeting in Alton last month to give residents from Alton and Bordon the opportunity to have a say in how their money is spent.

Just one member of the public turned out on that cold Thursday evening before Christmas - an indication, perhaps, of apathy and/or too high an expectation on behalf of councillors at the height of the festive season and in such bad weather.
