FOLLOWING a fundraising effort, St Matthew's Church in Blackmoor has been fitted with a new roof. Since April the church has been surrounded by scaffolding and hoarding as - thanks to grants from English Heritage, the Heritage Lottery Fund and both Whitehill and Selborne councils, as well as fundraising by church members - this 144-year-old Grade II Listed building is undergoing some essential works. Last Tuesday, members of the Junior Church decorated the backs of new tiles, which were taken up onto the roof by The Reverend Dominic Clarke, priest in charge at St Matthew's and Parochial Church Council treasurer Alan Waterhouse. Rev Clarke said: "The new roof is amazing. I would like to thank all those who have helped in raising money and devoted their time so that this project could take place."
