A commemorative plaque paying tribute to a military hero and fundraiser from Bordon has been unveiled beside the 2022 mural he inspired.

Whitehill Town Council recently unveiled the plaque on the noticeboard close to Woody’s Walk in a nod to the life, work and achievements of Brian Wood MC.

The veteran is one of the town’s greatest sons as the former Princess of Wales Royal Regiment soldier was awarded for the Military Cross for gallantry.

He also raised £168,000 in aid of the Armed Forces after completing 25 marathons in 25 days.

Town councillor Mike Steevens said: “Brian’s story means a lot to this town, and it’s great to see it marked in a way people can enjoy every day.”
