GOLD chains were much in evidence as the mayors of Alton, Farnham, Haselmere and Petersfield, the chairmen of Lindford, Liphook and Headley parish councils, and representative from Selborne, attended Whitehill Town Council's annual civic service.

Whitehill mayor Adam Carew said after the service: "This was a marvellous start to our civic year and I am grateful to the vicar – Reverend Will Hughes – curate Lyn Page and the congregation of St Matthew's for a wonderful service and their warm reception in our lovely parish church."
