A community-owned village pub near Farnham has hosted the local launch of an updated ‘bible’ for real ale drinkers.

There were cheers in The Sands early this month when The Barley Mow made the latest edition of the Good Beer Guide.

It was the first time the pub had featured in the annual Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) publication since locals took over the village watering hole following a buyout nearly three years ago.

And the celebrations continued last Tuesday as Surrey & Hants Borders CAMRA marked the achievement by choosing the pub for the branch launch of the 2027 guide.

“The guide is essential reading if you like to find a good pint of beer in a particular part of the UK,” said Peter Lawrence.

“As a community-owned pub, we are privileged that CAMRA chose The Barley Mow Sands for this official launch.”
