Jean Pharo celebrated her 102nd birthday at Belford House care home in Four Marks on December 17.

Born in Badshot Lea, she grew up at Preymead Farm near Farnham with her parents and two brothers.

Her father farmed and ran a haulage business. When he died her brothers took over and Jean did the office work.

In the Second World War Jean worked in a Slough factory and was “very proud” to be a Land Army girl on what is now Squires Badshot Lea Garden Centre, growing vegetables and other produce which went to Covent Garden to feed troops and the nation.

Before moving to Belford House Jean had retired to Four Marks with her brother and sister-in-law. She has a daughter, Carol, two grandchildren and two great-grandsons, all of whom are her “pride and joy”.

At her party were Carol, son-in-law Tony and her Belford House friends. They enjoyed a singalong with entertainment by Ryan Bishop, games and a marvellous birthday cake.
