Glorious sunshine greeted visitors to the first Rowledge Village Fayre in three years on the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee bank holiday Thursday.

It was the village’s first fayre since 2019, and was timed to coincide with the 70th anniversary celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign – with Her Majesty herself in attendance (in scarecrow form).

Visitors were treated to the usual mix of traditional family fun and games, live music by Farnham Brass Band, stalls, food and drink, as well as a few surprises.

It all kicked off with a gym display by the children of Rowledge Primary School at midday, and children were made wobbly bikes and balloon models by Mr Giant as well as enjoying fairground rides, bouncy castles and the traditional Punch and Judy show.

Tails wagged and the crowds amassed at the arena for the dog show, followed by family fun sports from 2.30pm.

And many made the most of the various refreshments on offer from the Prosecco tent, cake stall, a Pinch of Saffron curries, Hobo coffee, cricket club bar and barbecue, run by the self-titled ‘School Road Massive’.

A glorious Rowledge Village Fayre was set to close shortly after the grand raffle draw at 3.45pm.
