TOWNSFOLK visited Bordon library last Friday to build a piece of history - out of Lego.

The community art event saw attendees creating a mosaic, the details of which are secret for now, with the help of Bordon firm Bright Bricks, known for its larger-than-life Lego models.

The Whitehill and Bordon Regeneration Company, which is building a new town centre and homes in Bordon, said the building of the mosaic had also helped to raise awareness and funds for its chosen charity, Scotty’s Little Soldiers - dedicated to supporting children who have lost a parent serving in the British armed forces.

Those taking part received a square of Lego bricks for a £4 donation toward the cause.

The names of all participants were recorded, and the details will be put on display when the artwork is unveiled at the launch of the new Bordon and Oakhanger Sports Club pavilion, in Bolley Avenue, on Saturday, September 22.

The artwork’s design is staying under wraps until then.

“We wanted to mark the opening of the new BOSC pavilion with a poignant piece of art, and are delighted to involve the community and local firm Bright Bricks in its creation,” said Naomi Metcalfe, community manager at the Regeneration Company.

“It’s a great way to be involved in the launch of BOSC and part of its history.”

Bright Bricks is the UK’s only Lego-certified builder, and has created various bespoke models.

Former England cricketer Phil Tufnell will open the finished BOSC facilities at the launch event between 11am and 4pm, and anyone is welcome to attend.
