MORE than 1,000 brave souls headed to Longmoor Camp on Saturday to compete in one of UK’s toughest running challenges, Hell Down South.

The Brooks HellRunner event saw competitors facing the elements, with plunging into ice cold water featuring along the treacherous 10-mile course.

Watching the victims on the day, event director Paul Magner spoke about the final fixture in the three-strong Brooks HellRunner 2015-2016 series.

“The beauty of our events is the fact that they are all-natural,” he said.

“There is no shying away from mother nature. “Our routes take people through to the edge of their comfort zone and provide the ultimate in personal challenges.

“This weekend was the final event in the 12th Brooks HellRunner series and it was great to see so many faces take to the toughest running challenge in the UK and still finish with a smile on their face.”

The next two HellRunner events coming up this year are Hell Up North (on October 15 at Delamere Forest in Cheshire) and Hell In The Chilterns (on September 19 at West Wycombe Park).
