THE search is on for two more teams to take part in the Wipe Out Challenge - a new event in Bordon.
The event will take place on Bank Holiday Monday, May 29, at the recreation ground next to Mill Chase Academy in Mill Chase Road.
Teams will be made up of six young people, aged between 13 and 17.
Inspired by the BBC’s Total Wipeout, the teams will take on six inflatable-assault-course challenges, including the cross-beam challenge and the giant-ball run. There will be prizes and medals for the highest-scoring teams.
The day has been put together by the Whitehill and Bordon Town Partnership - an organisation run by volunteers who aim to organise regular community events.
“We wanted to create an event specifically for young people in the town,” said volunteer Angie Marker. “We have had a great response with nine teams signed up already.”
The Wipe Out Challenge has received funding from Radian, East Hampshire District Council and the East Hampshire Health and Wellbeing project.
It is just one of the many events in the Town Partnership’s calendar.
The group also organised the Whitehill and Bordon Festival last year and holds an annual summer fun day, the town’s fireworks display and a Christmas event.
The group also lends and hires out equipment, such as barriers and two-way radios, to other community event organisers.
The Town Partnership warned that places for the Wipe Out Challenge were filling up fast.
• Those wanting to enter a team, should text Angie Marker on 07818 178520 or email [email protected]. It costs £6 per team and each team needs two adult team leaders.
