PROPOSALS for Grayshott in the draft East Hampshire District Council Local Plan - out to public consultation until March 19 - include a new site for six travelling showpeople on greenfield land at Middle Common.

The Grayshott Road plot was selected because "there is a greater opportunity for good design, layout and amenity facilities".

Guidelines are the design and layout of the site must provide opportunities for healthy lifestyles. It must not be entirely hard landscaped, and there should be a garden, plus a children’s play area within view of the residential area and separate from the storage of equipment. It should be sited within 400m of the Special Protection Area.

The storage of equipment should be "appropriately sited, recognising the countryside setting" and necessary infrastructure, such as power, a water supply, foul water drainage, and recycling and waste management, should be in place.

It was noted part of the site is susceptible to surface water flooding.

Grayshott is designated a Small Local Service Centre in the Local Plan and has no proposed additional site allocations for housing in the document.

The community was asked to provide a minimum of 105 new homes and now has planning consent to cover that number, with 12 already completed.
