PUPILS at Bohunt School have been interacting with scientists from across the UK in an online public-engagement event aimed at getting students excited about science.

I’m a Scientist, Get Me Out of Here - funded by the Wellcome Trust, Royal Society of Chemistry and Physiological Society - saw students putting scientists through their paces during online live chats in which they asked the experts about anything from climate change to coding.

The aim was to get students excited about science and to show them scientists are normal people. They learned science lessons relate to real life, becoming more enthused.

Headteacher Neil Strowger said: “We have a culture of innovation at Bohunt and projects like this are very valuable. Not only did this experiment show students how excitement about subjects extends beyond the classroom, it gave them the chance to improve attitudes and communication.

“We work hard to offer students the chance to expand their experiences with industry experts. The chance to speak to scientists was unforgettable.”
