THE Woolmer Forest Heritage Society has mounted an exhibition of royal celebrations in Whitehill and Bordon to mark the year of the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The summer celebrations for her majesty’s birthday (from May 12 to 15 and on June 5, 10, 11, 12) prompted society members to search their archives for memorabilia of royal events being marked in Whitehill and Bordon.

Their exhibition is at Bordon library and there are memories of the Silver Jubilee of George V in 1935; Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation in 1953; her Silver (1977), Golden (2002) and Diamond (2012) jubilees, and her 90th birthday celebrations (she was born in April 1926).

Society chairman Chris Wain said: “Unfortunately, we do not have any pictures of George VI’s Coronation (1937) or the Queen’s Silver Jubilee.

“If any readers have such photos or any memories of these events we would be very pleased to hear from them.”

The exhibition, in Bordon library within the Forest Shopping Centre, will run until Christmas.
