THE Headley Scouts were presented with an indoor kurling set this week, courtesy of the Headley Masonic Lodge.
Fraser Skirrow, chairman of the 1st Headley Scouts, said the children were grateful for the donation which will allow them to practice their kurling.
"The Scouting groups in Hampshire run an indoor kurling competition during the year," Mr Skirrow said. "New-age kurling is a form of the original curling game, but adapted so that it can be played indoors on any smooth, flat surface, such as a sports hall, rather than on ice.
"The current competition is aimed largely at Beavers, the six to eight year olds. Every year we enter, and every year we are beaten because our group does not have its own kurling set."
However, now able to practise, the Headley Scouts hope they will stand a better chance in coming months.
Freemasons from the lodge - Ivor Matson, Jim Moore, Barry Read and Ray Read - presented the children with the equipment on Monday.
"Everybody is very happy, especially with the dark nights the Cubs and Scouts can play indoors," Mr Matson added.
