FOREST Rabbits, a new special-eductional-needs parent and toddler group, will launch on Saturday the Forest Community Centre.
Centre manager Lindsay Kelly said: “We are constantly assessing the service we provide to the community and over this past year we have had enquiries regarding a special-educational-needs parent and toddler group because residents of Bordon and Whitehill have, until now, had to travel to Alton or Farnham.
“We are grateful to the district council and the Bordon Liphook and Haslemere Charity for their generous grants.
“This group will provide much-needed help, support and information to many local families. I know one of the families who will use this facility and how important it will be to them and others.”
Whitehill town councillor Alan Waterhouse said: “I look forward to seeing this group grow and support many families over the year ahead.”
Jackie Restall, manager of the Bordon Care Charity Shop at the Forest Centre, said: “I was delighted to endorse their grant application. Giving back to our local community is what we are all about.”
Area resident Hannah Parry said: “As the mother of a child with special-educational needs, I am delighted to hear of the opening of Forest Rabbits.
“The world that we are thrown into without warning can be scary, confusing and sometimes isolating.
“Having the opportunity to meet with other families in similar situations, and being able to share our experiences together while watching our children socialise in a safe and friendly environment, is invaluable.”
