THE annual Bordon Remembrance Service takes place at the War Memorial, in Camp Road, on Armistice Day.
Wednesday’s service starts at 10.40am, with the road closed from 10.30am, and all members of the community are encouraged to attend.
Sally Pond, mayor of Whitehill, said: “How honoured but humbled we are to commemorate such an important service to respect those who have gone before us and to give our thanks and support to all those in Her Majesty’s services.”
Steve Johnson, from the War Memorial Association and organiser of the service on behalf of Whitehill Town Council, added: “Scouts, Guides, Army and Air Cadets are being invited to their local churches for the Remembrance services, while their leaders and local dignitaries are invited to the town’s main service at the War Memorial on Armistice Day.
“Schoolchildren are invited to lay crosses with the names of our fallen on, and all residents from the town and villages are invited.
“A special welcome is given to families with relatives on our Roll of Honour.
“Royal Air Force personnel from RAF Oakhanger, soldiers from Longmoor and members of the Royal British Legion are invited to the service and wreaths may be laid. Please stay after the service for tea or coffee or you may wish to go to the military cemetery in Bolley Avenue, and the Book of Remembrance can be seen in the library.”
