YOUNG footballers from Bordon have picked up prized silverware for their performances on the pitch.

The Wey Valley Warriors were presented with the second division league champions trophy for the 2011/12 season by North East Hampshire Youth League president at the Princes Hall in Aldershot.

They came top of the 61 teams who competed in the league's under-9 section – gaining near perfect scores throughout the season.

Wey Valley chairman and manager Nigel Soal said: "It was a fantastic achievement to win the league but to win the Sportsmanship Award was even more rewarding as this reflects the attitude of all of us, managers, players and parents towards the game."
