RUDGWICK lost to Waverley by 24 runs on Sunday (40-overs game).
James Wright went off very aggressively as he and Chris Beanland put on 136 for Waverley’s first wicket. After several dropped catches, Wright finally fell to Josh Driver for 82. Simon Brewer hit a quickfire 29 and Russ Golding ended 34 not out.
But it was Beanland’s day and he batted throughout for a memorable 100 not out, completing his maiden century off the final ball of the innings.
Rudgwick always went for the runs, with opener Dominic Page making 87 and Malcolm Crabbe striking a fine 60. A direct hit run-out by Golding helped stem the flow of runs and Waverley held the hosts to 255-7 in an entertaing match.
