CHURT were unable to contain Old Rutlishians after putting the visitors in to bat and the Surrey Championship Division Three leaders coasted to 232-8 before declaring in the 46th over.

Change-bowlers Dave Thomas and Greg Talbot had Rutlishians in a bit of trouble at 76-3, but Dan Wood and Russell Bryan put on 62 and both completed half-centuries as Churt wilted in the heat.

Churt lost Dom Saint without a run on the board and when Sonny Jones claimed the big wicket of skipper Toby Finneran, the home side were 17-2.

Dan Higgins, Jon Palmer and and Eric Osner got their heads down, but Michael Jones (4-29) and Evan Watson (3-20) got the best out of a responsive wicket and Churt were bowled out for 125.
