But the next day’s Village Cup quarter-final was probably on Liphook’s minds and, having chosen to bat, they were hustled out for 127 in 34 overs, with Ed Denham and Rob Pack sharing seven wickets.

The inadequacy of that score was rammed home by Nick Park (70 not out) and Tom West (41) who put on 119 for Bournemouth’s first wicket. They won by nine wickets.
