RELEGATION-threatened Rowledge failed to get enough runs to seriously test Calmore Sports, the Southern Premier League Division? One leaders.
Put in by in-form Calmore, beaten only once this season, Rowledge never really came to terms with a tough track where fast scoring was always tricky.
A fairly paceless, but naggingly economical Calmore attack targeted the right areas and the visitors could never break the shackles.
Nick Morant, David Lloyd, Ian Metcalfe and Steve Martin all occupied the crease for a length of time, but only Metcalfe reached 20 and the visitors were bowled out for an inadequate 120 after 47.2 overs.
Left-arm spinner Mark Lavelle returned an impressive 3-10 off 10 overs and Liam Newton and Jack Rutter also bagged three victims apiece.
Rowledge thought they had a sniff at 38-2 after Joe Randall and Steve Martin had dismissed openers Ben Perry and Mike Cook, both lbw.
Progress remained slow as Ben Johns and James Manning took Calmore to 78-2 at the 25-over mark. But the leaders had ample time on their side and the pair completed the job in the 32nd over – Manning 46 not out and Johns unbeaten on 38.
