CHELSEA Academy have extended the arrangement to play matches at Aldershot Town’s EBB Stadium for the 2016-17 season.

This will take the agreement into a fourth season, allowing the Blues’ U18 and U21 sides to continue playing home fixtures at Aldershot.

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck said: “We are very pleased to continue utilising the facilities at the EBB Stadium, which provides a fitting venue for our Academy players to develop and for Chelsea supporters to watch the teams of the future in action.

“We believe this relationship is mutually beneficial for both Chelsea and Aldershot Town, who have been fantastic hosts to us over the past two-and-a-half seasons.”

Shots chairman Shahid Azeem added: “This is fantastic news for the club and highlights our excellent relationship with Chelsea. It is a pleasure and a privilege to welcome them for another season and we are immensely grateful for their support.

“The pitch continues to look superb and our head groundsman Andy Nunn has benefited from the guidance of Chelsea’s ground staff.”

Chelsea will play a Barclays U21 Premier League game against Middlesbrough on Monday, December 21 (ko 7.05pm).

Be chairman for a day

ALDERSHOT Town are inviting five young supporters to be the club’s Chairman for the Day at a forthcoming home match.

All supporters aged 15 and under can apply for the special VIP role, or be nominated by a relative, teacher or friend, giving reasons why they deserve to be chairman.

The winners, accompanied by their guest, will be shadowed by the real chairman, Shahid Azeem, for the day, hosting the visiting directors, enjoying a three-course lunch, meeting the manager and players, watching the game from the directors’ box and helping to present the Man of the Match award after the game. The honorary chairman will also have the chance to write their own column in the programme.

Smart dress is essential, as is a confident and conversational personality from someone who is happy to watch the game from the best seats in the house.
