Two first-half strikes from Billy Allcock sunk a battling Liss Athletic side in their local derby at in-form Liphook United in the Hampshire Premier Football League Senior Division on Saturday afternoon.

It was a case of what might have been for Mark Glazier’s men, as Seamus Evans saw his early penalty saved by home goalkeeper Harry Adey.

Liphook took the lead after a quick break from a Liss corner that resulted in a foul and another spot kick, which Allcock dispatched, sending Euan Brindley the wrong way. Allcock then got on the end of a cross from the right to net Liphook’s second. Liss pressed to get back into the game, but found keeper Adey in good form.

Liss reserves beat Liphook reserves 4-1 at Newman Collard, thanks to goals from Wilf Marshall (2), Will Hedley and Alfie Harlan.
