BADSHOT Lea get back on the road to Wembley tomorrow as they return to FA Cup action - and they have set their sights on an upset.

Having already seen off Ascot United after a replay in the extra preliminary round and won an entertaining clash away in Dorset against Christchurch in the preliminary round, the Baggies are on their travels again when they take on Isthmian League side South Park in the first qualifying round.

The side managed by Gavin Smith and Dave Ford are in great form as they head to Reigate bidding to keep alive their cup dream and reach the second qualifying round.

The Wrecclesham-based Combined Counties League side have never been beyond the third qualifying round in their history and this is the first time in seven years that they have got this far.

But the FA Cup is not just a glorious adventure which culminates in a showpiece final at Wembley in May, it’s a potential moneyspinner for non-league sides.

Lea are already guaranteed picking up £6,640 for reaching this stage, and victory in Reigate on Saturday would take those earnings beyond £10,000, which would be a huge boost to the club, and chairman Mark Broad, after moving into their new ground at Westfield Lane during the summer.

Smith said: “I’m really looking forward to it and the lads should be well up for it. They will be motivated for it for sure, playing a team from a league above.

“I’d expect them to be motivated for every game but it doesn’t seem to happen at the moment. But we are going into it confident we can cause an upset.”
